Through the programmes of SOS Children’s Villages Bangladesh, children and families are transforming their lives with love, resilience, and opportunity. From finding a safe home to gaining education and independence, these stories reflect the real impact of family-like care, family strengthening, and youth empowerment—showing how lasting change begins when every child is loved and gets the chance to grow and thrive.

At the age of eleven, Sraboni Bhuiyan stood at a turning point in her life. Having endured multiple hardships early on, she arrived at SOS Children’s Village carrying both uncertainty and hope. What began as a new shelter soon became a place where her dreams found direction—and her story began to change.
Adjusting to her new environment was not easy. While the warmth of her SOS family gave her a sense of belonging, the weight of her past often followed her into the classroom. Determined to rise above it, Sraboni turned to education as her anchor. Her commitment paid off in 2011 when she achieved a GPA of 4.83 in the Primary Education Completion (PEC) examination, marking the first major milestone of her academic journey.
Studying at SOS Hermann Gmeiner College in Dhaka, Sraboni continued to push her limits. In 2014, she secured a perfect GPA of 5.00 in the Junior School Certificate (JSC) examination. With each success came growing expectations, and the pressure intensified. By the time she appeared for her Secondary School Certificate (SSC) in 2017, anxiety and self-doubt threatened to slow her down. Yet, with the encouragement of her SOS mentors and peers, she persevered—once again earning a GPA of 5.00.
In 2019, Sraboni completed her Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) with another perfect result. More than academic achievements, these milestones reflected years of resilience, discipline, and unwavering support. She went on to enrol at American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB), pursuing a Bachelor of Social Science in Economics, driven by a desire to understand the social and economic realities shaping lives like her own.
Alongside her studies, Sraboni took on an internship at BATA Bangladesh, gaining valuable exposure to the professional world. Despite financial uncertainties, she remained focused and forward-looking. Rooted in gratitude, she also began volunteering at local schools, sharing her journey to inspire others.
Today, Sraboni stands as a symbol of possibility. She dreams of establishing a foundation to support underprivileged youth through education—transforming the support she received into opportunities for others. Her journey proves that with determination and a caring community, even the most difficult beginnings can lead to meaningful futures.
