Sustainable livelihoods are essential for families to remain together and provide a secure environment for their children. At SOS Children’s Villages Bangladesh, livelihood support is a core component of the Family Strengthening Programme, aimed at building financial stability and long term resilience for vulnerable families.
Through targeted livelihood interventions, caregivers receive skills training, income generating support, and financial literacy guidance to improve household earning capacity. These initiatives are designed based on local market opportunities, enabling families to establish small businesses, engage in skilled trades, or strengthen existing income sources. By improving economic security, the programme helps reduce risks that lead to family separation.
Vocational Training Centres further expand livelihood opportunities for adolescents and young people. Participants receive hands on training in market relevant trades, alongside basic business skills and workplace readiness support. This enables young people to transition into decent employment or self employment with confidence.
By combining family based livelihood support with vocational training, SOS Children’s Villages Bangladesh is strengthening families, promoting self reliance, and creating pathways toward sustainable futures.
