Community empowerment

Strong and supportive communities play a vital role in protecting children and strengthening families. At SOS Children’s Villages Bangladesh, community empowerment focuses on building local capacity, ownership, and resilience to create environments where children can grow safely and with dignity.

Through community based initiatives, local stakeholders are engaged in identifying challenges and solutions related to child wellbeing, education, health, and livelihoods. Community members receive awareness and skills support to promote positive parenting, child protection, gender equality, and social inclusion. These efforts encourage shared responsibility and collective action at the community level.

The programme also supports the formation and strengthening of community groups, enabling people to access services, share knowledge, and respond to risks affecting children and families. By linking communities with local service providers and institutions, SOS helps improve access to essential resources and opportunities.

By empowering communities to take the lead in their own development, SOS Children’s Villages Bangladesh is fostering sustainable change that protects children and strengthens families beyond programme timelines.
