About Us

Building Brighter Futures for Children and Families in Bangladesh, For over five decades, SOS Children’s Villages Bangladesh has been working to protect, nurture, and empower parentless children and vulnerable families, helping them build secure and dignified lives.

SOS Children’s Villages Bangladesh is an independent, non-governmental, and non-profit organisation dedicated to the holistic development and long-term well-being of parentless children, as well as women and children from vulnerable families.

We have been working in Bangladesh since 1972, driven by a strong commitment to ensure that every child grows up in a safe, caring, and supportive environment. Over the past 54 years, our programmes have reached more than 138,000 children and families across the country, positively impacting the lives of over 43,000 individuals currently.

Our work spans child care and protection, family strengthening, community development, and emergency response. SOS Bangladesh has consistently stood alongside children, families, and communities, especially in disaster-prone and disaster-affected areas, providing care, protection, and hope when it is needed most.

Through our integrated and child-centred approach, we strive to empower vulnerable communities, strengthen families, and create lasting change so that every child can grow with dignity, security, and opportunity.

Family Strengthening Programme (FSP)

Family Strengthening Programme (FSP) is a preventive community intervention programme through which over 38000 children have been empowered, impacting over 83000 lives. Designed to prevent children from losing parental care or being abandoned, this programme runs in slums & rural areas, within a 30 km radius of an SOS Children’s Village. The beneficiaries of this programme are children of the most vulnerable families i.e., children of widows, single women, and Below Poverty Line (BPL) families as well as families whose livelihoods have been impacted by disaster. Spanning from 3 to 5 years, the programme aims to enable families to move out of the vicious cycle of poverty towards greater dignity and self-reliance by ensuring children’s education and income generating capacity development of the caregivers.

Family Like Care (FLC)

It is a curative programme of SOS Children’s Villages India that reaches out to over 6500 children through its 31 Children’s Villages across India. Each Village has Family Homes, with every home consisting of 8 children on average along with an SOS Mother.

Holistic development, including education, nutrition, health and psychological development, is taken care of until children are settled in their lives.

The four pillars of Family Like Care are

  • The Mother Every child grows up with the warmth and care of a loving Mother
  • Brothers and Sisters Every child grows up with siblings imbibing a sense of responsibility and the spirit of sharing
  • The Home A place where every child feels secure and has a sense of rooted belonging
  • The Village A community that surrounds the child so that every child has familial roots
