SOS Children’s Village International in Bangladesh (
www.sos-bangladesh.org) is a non-governmental social
development organisation that provides care for children who have lost parental care or who are at risk of losing parental care and are deprived of a caring family environment. SOS Children’s Villages works in more than 130 countries and territories around the world. In Bangladesh, we have been working since 1972 and presently have programmes in Dhaka, Rajshahi, Khulna, Chattogram, Bogura, Sylhet, Bagerhat, Kurigram and Gazipur.
Our programmes contribute to delivering on SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) with a special focus on improving the national social protection system, fighting inequalities, promoting access to quality education, strengthening youth employability and ending violence against children.

Position: Head of Human Resources and Organisational Development (HR & OD)

Job Location: National Office, Dhaka
Role Overview
A senior-level leadership role responsible for providing strategic direction and operational oversight of Human Resources and Organisational Development to ensure an enabling, values-driven and safeguarding-focused workplace culture; legal and policy compliance; and effective attraction, development and retention of talent aligned with the organisation’s vision, mission, values and strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of HR & OD strategies aligned with organisational goals and SOS standards
- Lead workforce planning, organisational structure review, succession planning and leadership development initiatives
- Ensure end-to-end HR lifecycle management including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, learning & development, employee relations and separation processes
- Strengthen HR policies, procedures and systems in line with Bangladesh labour laws and organisational requirements
- Oversee performance management systems and ensure timely implementation of goal setting, appraisal and performance improvement processes
- Promote a positive, inclusive, gender-sensitive workplace culture and drive staff engagement and well-being initiatives
- Manage employee relations including grievance handling and disciplinary procedures with due process and confidentiality
- Ensure HR operational effectiveness including HR documentation, records management and HR information/reporting
- Coordinate payroll inputs, HR-related benefits administration and HR compliance requirements in collaboration with Finance and Administration
- Ensure adherence to organisational standards and regulations such as the Code of Conduct, Child & Youth Safeguarding, Sexual Misconduct Regulation (PSHEA) and any other policies/regulations introduced from time to time
- Lead, mentor and develop HR team members and ensure effective cross-functional coordination to improve organisational effectiveness
- Carry out any other HR-related responsibilities as assigned, consistent with organisational policies, priorities and governance requirements

Educational Qualification, Experience & Other Requirements
Educational Qualification
- Master’s degree in Human Resource Management (HRM) or a closely related discipline.
Experience
- Minimum 15 years of progressive professional experience, with at least 5 years in senior HR leadership/management roles
- Proven expertise in strategic HR management and organisational development
- Strong working knowledge of Bangladesh labour laws and HR best practices
- Proven experience in performance management systems, training/learning frameworks and leadership development
- Experience working in NGO/INGO/development sector will be an advantage
- Working knowledge of HR digital tools/HRIS and data-driven HR management is preferred
Other Requirements
- Strong moral & ethical character and good physical and mental health with strong integrity
- Ability and willingness to travel as and when necessary
