SOS Children's Villages Bangladesh celebrated "International SOS Children's Village Day 2014" with a variety of programs during 16-23 June showing respect to the founder of SOS Children's Villages - Prof. Hermann Gmeiner; key messages of SOS Children's Villages  highlighted among people, festivity and feast brought immense pleasure among children and community and emotions were high.

 

‘International SOS Children’s Village Day’ observed in SOS Children’s Villages in Bangladesh located in Dhaka, Rajshahi, Khulna, Chittagong, Bogra and Sylhet with lots of joy, enthusiasm and festivity.

 

SOS Children's Village Dhaka

The main program was held on 23 June 2014 through a discussion session, prize giving ceremony and cultural function where Mr. Syed Mohsin Ali MP honorable Minister for Social Welfare, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, was attended as Chief Guest while Director General of the Department of Social Services - Mr. Mohammad Saidur Rahman was present as special guest among 300 guests, children, mothers and well-wishers of SOS Children's Villages. 

Mr. Ghulam Ahmed Ishaque, National Director, SOS Children’s Village International in Bangladesh welcomed the guests in his speech and delivered his address highlighting the significance of International SOS Children’s Village Day and key messages of the organization.

 

The honourable Minister and chief guest expressed deep respect to noble personality and founder of SOS Children’s Village - Prof. Hermann Gmeiner and praised the humanitarian activities and quality services of SOS Children’s Villages. He paid special honour to Prof. Hermann Gmeiner by keeping one minute silent with all audience. Later on, the Minister distributed prizes among children won in sports and other competitions arranged on that occasion.

 

Earlier, the Chief Guest visited a family house and also a small stall arranged with different awards achieved by SOS Children’s Villages, important photographs, commemorative stamps, books, journals, brochures, posters and other printed materials on SOS Children’s Villages. The program was ended with an amusing cultural show by the children.

 

SOS Children's Village Khulna

The three day long programme was opened on 21 June through exhibition of science projects, handicraft, agriculture, arts and crafts and literary works of children at SOS Hermann Gmeiner School Khulna. Moreover, children’s art competition, cultural and recreational activities were also organized. Professor Dr. Anwarul Karim, In-charge, Northern University Bangladesh, Khulna was present as chief guest in the opening program.

 

As concluding programme, discussion session and cultural function was arranged on 23 June where Mr. Anis Mahmud, Deputy Commissioner, Khulna was present as chief guest. The chief guest also distributed prizes among children who won different event in sports and other competitions. The program was ended with a cultural show jointly presented by children and young people from SOS Children's Village Khulna, SOS Youth House Khulna and SOS Hermann Gmeiner School Khulna.

 

SOS Children's Village Chittagong

SOS Children’s Village Chittagong arranged sports, music, recitation, art and quiz competitions for children. A Big Children Party and SOS Children’s Village Exhibition were organized on 23 June. In this program different schools are invited to show their children’s performance - music, recitation and dance. Cultural function, prize distribution and discussion were also held. Syeda Sarwar Jahan, Additional Divisional Commissioner, Chittagong attended the programme as chief guest. A get-together programme for the former SOS boys and girls was also arranged.

 

 

 

 

 

 

SOS Children's Village Rajshahi

To mark the International SOS Children's Village Day SOS Children’s Village Rajshahi arranged 5 days long (from 17 to 23 June) programme.

 

Young people from SOS Youth Village Rajshahi took part in the tree plantation program. They planted 100 coconut saplings at Raninagar-Gorbari, Godagari, Rajshahi. The second day programme was set out with sports competition among children. Then a get- together programme for former SOS boys and girls and retired mothers was arranged. A swimming competition was arranged in Rajshahi Swimming Complex children under our care who are studying Class-II to Class-IV participated. A friendly football match was also arranged in playground of a local school where SOS Youth Village Rajshahi team played against a team formed with young people under our support through our Family Strengthening Porgramme (FSP).  The concluding programme - discussion session, prize giving ceremony and cultural function was held on 23 June 2014 where Mr. Helal Uddin Ahmed, divisional commissioner of Rajshahi was present as chief guest.

 

SOS Children's Village Bogra

In Bogra, the main programme was arranged on 23 June through a discussion session, prize giving ceremony and cultural function where Mr. Md. Shafiqur Reza Biswas, Deputy Commissioner, Bogra was present as chief guest. 

 

SOS Children's Village Sylhet

SOS Children’s Village Sylhet arranged children’s art competition, quiz competition, sports competition and finally discussion session, prize giving ceremony and cultural function on 23 June where Mr. Md. Shahidul Islam, Deputy Commissioner, Sylhet attended as chief guest.
