Children's Art Competition held on 'Celebration of 40 years of SOS Children's Villages in Bangladesh'

SOS Children's Village International in Bangladesh arranged 'Children's Art Competition' on 21 December 2012 on the occasion of its 40 Years Celebration. Hon’ble State Minister for LGED Advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanak, MP, was present in the programme as chief guest. Mr. Nurun Nabi Talukder, Director General, NGO Affairs Bureau and Prof. E. H. M. Matlub Ali, Dean, Faculty of Fine Art, University of Dhaka were present as special guests.

The event 'Children's Art Competition' was arranged aiming to support art and creativity among children and to create awareness about SOS Children's Villages among the people of the society.

In his address, the Chief Guest - Hon'ble Minister said “the children are the future of a nation. It is our duty to take care of our children properly so that they can be responsible citizens of the country. This type of programme is helpful for the children for their intellectual development”.

National Director of SOS Bangladesh said “SOS Children’s Village International in Bangladesh is always working for the best interest of the children. Celebration of 40 years (1972-2012) of SOS-Bangladesh is the recognition of this dedication". Around 350 children took part in the competition from 14 schools along with the children of SOS Children's Villages in Bangladesh. Through their artwork, the children expressed enormous creativity, skills and thoughtfulness. Children come along with their guardians in the programme and a huge gathering was created in the venue at playground of SOS Children's Village Dhaka.

Children were participated in the competition dividing with four groups on specific subject for each group. For Group-A (Class- I to III) subject was open. For Group-B (Class- IV and V), the selected subject was 'My Mother'. Subject for Group-C (VI and VII) contestants was 'Natural Scenery of Bangladesh' and Group-D (VIII and IX) subject was 'Our Victory'. The top five best artworks from each group will be awarded later.
